CO₂ toll started

Today, on 1 December 2023, Article 1 of the amended Federal Trunk Road Toll Act comes into effect. With it, the CO₂ emission class is introduced as a new tariff property and, due to a CO₂ surcharge, the toll tariffs will increase.
Also, as of today the technically permissible maximum laden mass (TPMLM) is the new basis for the allocation to a weight class. This means that vehicles could be classified in a higher weight class or become subject to tolls.
Another change: from now on, vehicles with a particle reduction class (PMK) will no longer be categorized in a higher emission class.
